A sunny 0pen house day
in the midst of summer rain phase
Will it rain or not?
I want the music open air!was the decision of Heiner
Kröger, the project manager of the festival celebrating our
20th anniversary, and the day took his word because everybody enjoyed
the fun and the music in the little park in front of the historic
orphanage in Varel on this one and only dry and sunny day during
the past rainy weeks.
The Dixie sound of the well known jazz formation Hot
Dixie Peppers caught the awareness of weekend shoppers at
the shopping centre located across the street who reacted with rhythmic
steps while walking along the parking lot.
The good wishes from the opening ceremony speech of Gerd-Christian
Wagner, Mayor of the city of Varel and club member, were self fulfilling
by this beautiful and successful course of the day.
Starting with the club history, which was displayed on banners inside
the building, followed by an expressive photo series and a supporting
selection of precious souvenirs up to a modern video show the visitors
were offered a comprehensive and representative overview of the
activities of our club Friendship Force Varel.
The self made cakes which were successfully defended against the
attacks of wasps in most cases were sold and consumed. The offers
of soup, Bratwurst and the variety of drinks met a lot of interest
of all guests.
During the afternoon the performance of the Shanty Choir De
Freesen ut Varel was standing for a further musical accent
in the programme.
Besides many congratulations there were opportunities for meetings
and conversations with people who just dropped in curiously following
the invitations on the flags that were hanging on tree branches.
It was an outstanding party which was not only appropriate for a
20th anniversary but which also proved the willingness to take responsibility
of some club members and the enthusiasm and readiness for action
of many others will guarantee such a success.
This party can only be topped by the 25th anniversary.
