Incoming exchange from Curitiba (Brazil)
Ten ambassadors from FF Curitiba (Brazil) visited FF Varel from May
7th to 14th.
Most of them were of German origin and spoke German and therefore they
have been very interested in our region and our culture. Besides two
beautiful family days they enjoyed a program with a great variety. We
visited the VW-Factory and the Johannes a Lasco - Library at Emden,
the leaning tower of Suurhusen and the village of Rysum. They learned
about eel-smoking at Kayhausen and had a walk around in the City of
Oldenburg with the Castle and its Gardens, the Town Hall, the Lamberti
Church and the inner city area. A very special event was a day-trip to
the island of Neuwerk. After the Mayor’s reception at the Town Hall of
Varel and a sightseeing tour of the city this enjoyable exchange came
to an end with a nice farewell party.
