An Indian summer as designed
Exchange of Friendship Force Varel to Friendship Force
Southern Connecticut (USA) and Friendship Force Niagara (Canada)
from October 7th to 21st 2010.
The following day after a rainy arrival in Boston the tinted glass
of our bus heading south on Highway 91 through New England were
giving us, i. e. 19 ambassadors from our club, protection against
the bright sunshine which had decided to accompany us during the
whole period of our exchanges.
This enabled us to experience the worldwide known famous leaf coloring
in the USA and Canada in a variety and intensity that made even
non-photographers to take pictures.
After the hearty welcome on a parking lot at Guilford, Connecticut
some of our group got the chance to experience this colorful phenomenon
close up and with all their senses as the locations of their hosts
houses were in the midst of forested areas. The others however did
not mind their beautiful direct sight from their room to the shores
of the Atlantic Ocean and the tips of Long Island.

Friendship Force Southern Connecticut had prepared an interesting
and still very relaxed program offering to us selected Information
on the history of the state and its citizens and sufficient time
with the hosts and their specific ideas and plans.
After the official Welcome by the democratic Senator
in election stress Ed Meyer, we visited the Indian Pequot Museum
which is located in the neighborhood of casino in the middle of
their reservation. A hike through the colorful forests, a picnic
at the beach and a visit to a local farmers thanksgiving market
alternated with guided tours along arts shops and historical buildings.
The special visit to the Yale University, that had been exclusively
arranged for our group and a visit to a festival at a local vineyard
were further topics of the harmonic program.
The country club directly located at the Atlantic Ocean and its
unforgettable sunset beach formed a symbolic last highlight of the
Farewell Dinner.
