Between October 10th and 16th 2008 the friends and ambassadors
of Friendship Force Norperu-Trujillo (Peru) came on a return visit
to Friendship Force Varel. As they had been travelling in Europe
for quite some time their arrival varied from the late afternoon
at Varel Station until close to midnight at the Bremen airport.
On their first day there was only a small guided tour in Spanish
through the city of Oldenburg with a coffee break at the castle
on the schedule. Thereafter mainly the female guests used the opportunity
for shopping.
The next day was dedicated to the hosting families who either visited
the Pumpkin Market at Varel or the Historical
Livestock Market at Jever and others travelled to the cities
of Bremen or Bremerhaven.
On Monday the event for placing the paving stone Trujillo
2008 into the Walk of Fame of FF Varel in front
of the Town Hall was held before the official reception by the Mayor
of Varel, Christian Wagner. The bad weather made everybody gathering
in the Town Halls conference room pretty fast. The Peruvian
guests showed a lot of interest in the presentation of the Mayor
and asked numerous questions. Marco Valdivia who again acted as
interpreter translated all the answers to their satisfaction. Later
Focke Gerdsen from Friendship Force Varel explained everything about
the history and the construction details at the Castle Church of
Varel. After a good and comfortable lunch buffet at Café
Eyting in Jeringhave the day ended with a sightseeing of the Friesland
Ceramic Company.
During the Tuesday visit to the worldwide known Meyer Shipyard at
Papenburg the Peruvians were utmost astonished about the Dimensions
of Cruising Ships under construction there. After they had tasted
the East Frisian Snietjebraten they enjoyed a sightseeing
of the community. Many photos were shot in front of the Peat Cutter,
the Church Tower and especially the local Fehnhouses.
The Farewell party was set for the following evening at the Community
Center of Obenstrohe. In addition to the official parts the evening
was enlightened by the Singing Group under the direction of Dr.
Fendler and his wife as well as by the Folkdance- and Local Costume
Group from Jever. Livia and Luis Regalado danced the Peruvian Marinera
and all of the guests presented Peruvian songs.
On Thursday morning the hosts said good bye to their friends from
Norperu-Trujillo with a sad Bienvenido and Auf
Wiedersehen at the village of Beverstedt where they were welcomed
by FF Hamburg their hosts for the upcoming week.
