Incoming Exchange from Tuxtla-Gutiérrez
A group of 21 guests were visiting us from Tuxtla-Guitérrez
(Mexico) from June 20th to 27th 2010.
After their stay at Berlin they travelled by train to Varel. From
Osnabrück Main Station they were accompanied by our exchange
directors Gisela Vahlenkamp and Hildburg Sadzio.
After the welcome ceremony with their hosts at Varel Station they
proceeded to the restaurant Zum Schwarzen Ross to get
acquainted to each other with a cup of East Frisian tea and home
baked cake.
The next day was dedicated to the visit of the city of Varel starting
with the welcome ceremony by the Mayor, followed by the bell chimes
at Hespe and the traditional spoon drink. The sightseeing
of the Castle Church and the historical Windmill of Varel was interrupted
only by a nice common lunch.
For the following day the programme offered a visit to the city
of Jever. It started with a visit of the famous Jever Brewery with
a traditional Labskaus-meal (a stew made of meat, fish and mashed
potatoes) at its end. With fresh power they enjoyed the city sightseeing
and the Fire Brigade Museum, had some coffee and thereafter they
were very pleased that they were still given the chance to watch
their football game at the world championship on TV.
The following days were also quite varied. On Wednesday we all went
by train to the city of Bremen for some shopping and on Thursday
we did a bus trip along our coast line. On that day with beautiful
weather, we went on board the fishing boat Jens Albrecht
into the direction of the Island Wangerooge, and observed
a demonstration of fishing and shelling of shrimps and our guest
showed a lot of interest in the last.
At the end of this tour we passed by the company Heiko Blume
in Friedeburg and while enjoying a cup of East Frisian tea and butter
cake our guests learned a lot about the production of local spirits
and china. The day ended with an asparagus meal in the restaurant
Kleine Moorkneipe to which our guest had invited us.
At the farewell party in the restaurant Bistro am Deich
a wonderful programme was offered. The Danz Mues of
the folkdance group of Varel showed their dances and the middle
aged music from Benjamin and Florian Kirschner proved to be extremely
enjoyable. The singing presentation of our Mexican guests was enriching
the evenings delight and overall everybody had a lot of fun with
the presentations.
After a common family day the time to leave for our guest approached
somehow very quickly and so on June 27th 2010 we had to say good
bye at Varel Station as our guests continued to a further exchange
to Leuwen (Belgium).
Adios y quizas un bienvenido en Mexico.
