Cultural exchange programmes
The Friendship Force Varel has received worldwide appreciation for
the special efforts the club invested into exchange programmes with
mainly cultural content, the so called „bridgebuilder programmes“.
1994 – the shanty choir of Varel and the folkdance group of Conneforde
toured through the USA for 3 weeks.
1998 – under the motto „back to the roots the Varel-Gospel choir
tours through the USA for 2 weeks
2001 – Friendship Force Varel has arranged the Friendship Force
German Conference and welcome Chip Carter, the son of the former
US president Jimmy Carter
2002 – Friendship Force Varel organized a 3 weeks tour to the
USA with the folkdance Group of Jever
2002 – Friendship Force Varel arranged the Global Youth Institute,
the Youth programme of Friendship Force International
2003 – In cooperation with the Blue Lion from Rastede Friendship
Force Varel organized the visit of the Decatur High School Band
from Atlanta
2004 – The Nick Gospel Choir from Edewecht did a 3 weeks concert
tour to Memphis, Tennessee and Lower Columbia, Washington arranged
by Friendship Force Varel
The Drums Cops Blue Lions travelled to a return visit to the Decatur
High School Band in Atlanta for 12 days with support of Friendship
Force Varel
