Cultural exchange programmes
The FF Varel has received worldwide appreciation for the special
efforts the club invested into exchange programmes with mainly
cultural content, the so called „bridgebuilder programmes“.
1994 – the shanty choir of Varel and the folkdance group of
Conneforde toured through the USA for 3 weeks.
1998 – under the motto „back to the roots the Varel-Gospel choir
tours through the USA for 2 weeks
2001 – FF Varel has arranged the Friendship Force German
Conference and welcome Chip Carter, the son of the former US
president Jimmy Carter
2002 – FFV organized a 3 weeks tour to the USA with the
folkdance Group of Jever
2002 – FFV arranged the Global Youth Institute, the Youth
programme of Friendship Force International
2003 – In cooperation with the Blue Lion from Rastede FFV
organized the visit of the Decatur High School Band from Atlanta
2004 – The Nick Gospel Choir from Edewecht did a 3 weeks concert
tour to Memphis, Tennessee and Lower Columbia, Washington arranged
by FFV
The Drums Cops Blue Lions travelled to a return visit to the
Decatur High School Band in Atlanta for 12 days with support of FFV
