Global Youth Institute (GYI)

FF Varel shows a lot of interest in the new generation of honorary ambassadors. There the club is actively engaged in the Global Youth Institute, the youth programme of FFI.It has been developed in cooperation between FFI and the public education system of the city of Des Moines, Iowa, USA.

Since its foundation in 1990 approximately 500 young girls and boys at the age of 16 to 18 from various countries have met in the USA, Brasil, Austria, Australia and 2002 also at Varel. The Institute calls young girls and boys once every year from all over the world to meet and devote 3 weeks to topics of global interest.

All Friendship Force clubs are invited to participate. The region of Varel has regularly participated with about 6 young persons at the GYI.

FF Varel supports this youth programme with the expectation that the young participants will give impulses on the international Friendship Force community. The club is achtively involved in the GYI Advisory committee by his honorary president, Horst Neumann and provides assistance at the location by local teachers. The forthcoming GYI will meet in Taiwan in July 2006.
