Varel (debate: Va | rel [ 'fa :...]) is a town in Friesland at Jadebusen in Lower Saxony, south of Wilhelmshaven.

It has about 25,000 inhabitants, the largest city in the county of Friesland. Their popularity as a tourist and conference destination thanks to the natural and climatic particularly favourable situation at the Jadebusen (temperate maritime).
